It is two minutes on foot to the valley station of the Zugspitze railway, a good quarter of an hour to the Partnach Gorge and five minutes to the Olympic ski stadium. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a certified climatic health resort, the birthplace of Michael Ende and the town where Richard Strauss worked – and the starting point for almost everything people come to the Bavarian Alps for. Over 40 kilometres of pistes and five valley runs with snowmaking – 12 km blue, 18 km red and 10 km black. The Hausberg with blue and red runs, ski school, ski hire and a children’s area; the Kreuzeck with the black Kandahar run; the Alpspitze at 2,628 metres, mostly red. The Hausberg valley station is about 1.9 km from the hotel.
About 20 kilometres of piste on the glacier, freeride checkpoints and guided freeride courses, family reductions. Multi-day passes can be combined with Garmisch-Classic.
About 5 kilometres of piste, ideal for beginners and families.
In the Wank area, at the Eckbauer, on the Hausberg and in the Zugspitze and Alpspitze region. Guided tours via the Garmisch tourist information or Vivalpin, hire at Skiverleih GaPa. Safety equipment with shovel, probe and transceiver is recommended.
Via Ludwigstraße and Hasentalstraße in Partenkirchen to the Gamshütte inn on the Wank – a prepared track with views of the Zugspitze massif.
Up to 70 red deer, from the Christmas holidays to the end of February. Public feeding Thursday to Sunday from 4 pm, a short walk from the Berggasthof Almhütte car park.
